FAQs

I can't afford my training plan. Do you offer financing?

While I typically ask for 100% of the cost up front, please let me know if cost is the reason you're on the fence for beginning training! I'm able to offer a larger portion of the sum up front followed by smaller monthly payments. This is something we can discuss at your consultation to make sure you feel comfortable moving forward.

I want my dog to walk well in a harness. Can you make this happen?

Moving forward, I will not be accepting clients who wish to have their dog in a harness as the end result for leash walking. Harnesses create pressure on the dog's body that they instinctively lean into, causing them to pull. While I'm able to train a heel in a harness (as I am with an off-leash heel), my preference is to teach my clients how to communicate with their dog through dog psychology by utilizing a slip lead/collar or prong collar that sits high up on the neck. If your dog suffers laryngeal paralysis or tracheal collapse, we will use a head collar to avoid pressure on the neck. Harnesses are only used in my training plans for scent work and tracking purposes.

When I'm finished with training, will my dog not need training for the rest of its life?

During my entire animal training career, I've always been asked, "When is it considered fully trained?" The truth is, training NEVER stops! Even if a behavior is considered fully trained, maintenance is always required to keep the behavior sharp. This is why it is so important that I train you so that you're able confidently maintain your dog's behavior after i'm gone. I offer all my clients with lifetime support, so any questions you have outside of our training together is always welcome.

Do you have a board and train option?

While this is something I would love to incorporate in the future, I don't at this time. I believe in educating the owner through 1 on 1 training sessions where I come to you and teach you to be self sufficient in your dog's training.  However, I do see the benefits of the board and train in combination with what I do already. There are some instances where a board and train may be a vital part of your dog's training. If this is something I recognize during our consultation, I will happily refer you to a great board and train that can help.
