EQUIPMENT
included in your training package!
Equipment isn't everything, but it is important. What's even more important is how the equipment is used. Any training tool has the potential to be beneficial or detrimental depending on how it's used. I teach how how to use each tool to maximize communication with your dog safely.

Not every dog is recommended the exact same equipment. When I meet with you for your consultation, I gauge what will be the best equipment to begin with, and what will be the best to graduate to.

Collars that are able to sit high up on the neck, behind the ears, and cinch uniformly around the neck (e.g. slip leads or collars, Herm Sprenger brand prong collars) are some of the best tools you can use to clearly and naturally communicate with your dog through the leash. In some cases, the addition of an Ecollar may be recommended, but isn't always necessary. For dogs who have suffered tracheal collapse, laryngeal paralysis, or any other neck injury prior to our training that prohibits the use of a collar, I have found different styles of head collars to be great alternatives that avoid any pressure on the neck. Again, I teach you how to utilize the selected tool in a way that will keep your dog safe.

For dogs training for certain tests that require using a flat collar, we may use some of the above tools in the process of training for a loose-lead, flat collar walk.

As far as your leash goes, a regular ol' leash will work great. No need for bungies or retractables!
The overarching goal is for your dog to have a positive association with any equipment and ultimately provide your dog, you, and your pack more freedom.
